what people are saying…

iTunes 5 stars: “Inspiring.

Listening to this podcast takes my blood pressure down and ignites my creativity. I’m deeply inspired by the intersection of sacred and secular art, in all its forms. This podcast explores truth and beauty through art, from a Catholic Christian perspective. Highly recommended for artists who are drawn to the realm of the spiritual.”

iTunes 5 stars: “A Lovely, Edifying Podcast.

Born of Wonder is a thoughtful podcast about books, music, nature and being truly human while living in the tension of time, beauty, pain, love, virtue and vice. I always feel peaceful and edified after listening. So glad I found this lovely gem!”

iTunes 5 stars: “Lots of food for thought.

Someone recommended this podcast to me when I was sick with Covid and I am so glad! Exploring topics like Sylvia Plath and how winter is a time of renewal through poetry and music have been thought provoking and very interesting. So glad the host listens to her Instincts about what is interesting. Can’t wait to listen to the rest.”

iTunes 5 stars: “Thought-Provoking and Enchanting.

I always come away from this podcast inspired to recognize more beauty and compassion in the world. Katie’s content is well-researched and full of delightful music and transporting sounds. Would highly recommend to anyone with a love for beauty, faith, and imagination!”

iTunes 5 stars: “Thinking on worthy things.

This podcast is a rabbit hole of worldly and literary connections. Every episode has me googling new authors, poems, memoirs, and songs that Katie introduces and explores in relation to everyday things - but not boring everyday things - the wonderful things that are everyday.”

iTunes 5 stars: “Thought-provoking and WONDERful.

Born of Wonder is my new favorite podcast! Katie’s reflection on art, literature, and beautiful things is thoughtful and leaves me feeling inspired. The audio production is quality and is just a delight to listen to. Can’t wait to hear more!”

iTunes 5 stars: “Quite incredible!

This is the most aesthetically pleasing podcast I have ever laid my ears on.”

On Fairy Stories Podcast

“I propose to speak about fairy-stories, though I am aware that this is a rash adventure. Faërie is a perilous land, and in it are pitfalls for the unwary and dungeons for the overbold.”
- J.R.R. Tolkien, On Fairy-Stories

I created this podcast during the initial phases of 2020 Covid Quarantine - a way to escape into other-worlds to discover something real and true about this world. A short-lived series, but one I had a lot of fun making.

I explore ancient myths using Tolkien's belief in "eucatastrophe" (“the good catastrophe, the sudden joyous turn, the mark of all fairy tales”) and "true myths" as a guide. You’ll hear a bit of history, a bit of philosophizing, a lot of rich sound-design, and compelling stories of lost worlds.

You can still listen on iTunes, Google Play, Stitcher, Spotify, Podbean, TuneIn, or Podcast Addict.

what people are saying…

iTunes 5 stars: “Magical.

Excellent podcast - Katie does a wonderful job layering audio to set the tone and mood and expertly weaves story telling, poetry, philosophy, and theology together to create something that is truly audible art.”

iTunes 5 stars: “Love this, great audio quality & original.

I love this podcast! I found Katie’s work through her blog, bornofwonder.com. This podcast is high quality, the audio is smooth, and she finds fun audio samples and stories about beloved figures like Tolkien and more obscure things like selkies. Thank you for this, big fan here!”

iTunes 5 stars: “a must-listen.

A good storytelling of myths, heroic feats and folk tales is always a treat but Katie makes these sweeter by expertly weaving them together into compelling audio narratives. These episodes are a joy to listen to.”
